This Privacy Policy explains how WedQR ("WedQR," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, web app, mobile app, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1) Who we are and scope
WedQR provides tools for couples to manage weddings and for invited guests to create profiles and connect at events using QR codes. This Privacy Policy applies to information we process in connection with the Service. It does not cover third‑party sites or services that we do not control.
2) Information we collect
- Account information (couples): name, email, password (hashed), and wedding details (names, date, venue, access code, subscription status).
- Guest information: name, photo, bio, relationship and social links, RSVP status, QR code references, and messages if messaging is used.
- Event and usage data: QR scans (who scanned whom and when), simple analytics (pages viewed, referrers), device information (browser, OS), and IP addresses for security and fraud prevention.
- Communications: email or SMS messages sent through the Service and your communication preferences.
- Location/Places data: approximate location or place lookups when couples search venues or addresses using maps/places APIs.
- Files and images: photos or files uploaded by couples or guests; we may use hosting/CDN providers to store and serve these.
- Payment data: handled by our payment processor (e.g., Stripe). We receive limited information such as transaction status, amounts, and plan type; we do not store full payment card numbers.
3) How we collect information
- Directly from you when you create an account, update profiles, upload content, or contact support.
- Automatically through cookies, local storage, and similar technologies when you use the Service.
- From integrations and service providers we use to operate the Service (e.g., payment processing, email/SMS delivery, maps/places APIs).
4) How we use information
- Provide and operate the Service (guest directory, QR scanning, messaging, wedding setup, onboarding).
- Authenticate users, secure accounts, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions.
- Send transactional communications (e.g., invitations, confirmations, notices) and respond to support requests.
- Improve the Service, including diagnostics, analytics, and feature development.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.
5) Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)
- Contract: to provide the Service you request.
- Consent: where you opt in (e.g., certain cookies, optional features).
- Legitimate interests: to maintain and improve the Service, prevent abuse, and support users.
- Legal obligations: to comply with applicable laws and regulatory requests.
6) Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with:
- Service providers and processors who help us run the Service (e.g., payment processing such as Stripe; email/SMS delivery such as transactional email providers and SMS gateways; maps/places and geocoding; hosting/CDN; analytics; customer support tools). They may only use data to provide services to us and must protect it appropriately.
- Other users as you direct: for example, guest profiles may be visible to other guests and the couple for the event directory and QR scanning.
- Authorities, advisors, or other third parties when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to prevent fraud or abuse, or in connection with a business transaction (e.g., merger, acquisition).
7) International transfers
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross‑border transfers.
8) Data retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Couples may archive a wedding; we may retain minimal records for compliance.
9) Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10) Your rights and choices
- Access, correction, deletion: You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Guests may update or delete their profiles; couples may update wedding data. We may ask you to verify your identity.
- EEA/UK: You may have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, and to data portability. You can withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- US state privacy laws (e.g., CA/VA/CO/CT/UT): You may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt‑out of certain sharing. WedQR does not sell personal information.
- Cookies and tracking: You can control cookies in your browser settings. Some features may not work without certain cookies.
- Communications: You can opt‑out of non‑transactional emails by using unsubscribe links or contacting support. Transactional emails and important notices will still be sent.
- Push notifications (mobile): You can disable notifications through your device settings.
